It's the day of the Europa Cup Final and we arrived in Hamburg shortly before lunchtime. Fulham fans congregate in Hans-Albers Platz in the build up to the game.
Inside the Nordbank Stadium, Hamburg, the two teams are all set for the kick-off.
Today we begin our marathon trip to Hamburg for the Europa Cup Final. Outside Craven Cottage, this is my Dad heading off to our coach which will take us down to Dover, a short ferry trip to Calais before a drive through the French countryside, Belgium, Holland and into Germany.
There no stadium quite like Craven Cottage. There's something quite special about the age and history of the place. The change from terracing to seats did not destroy this special feeling like it did in so many other stadia. This photo is of the Stevenage Road Stand (Johnny Haynes Stand), some quick research on the internet informs me that this is the oldest football stand in the world, built in 1905, to me its still one of the best and quite right then to be a nationally protected building.
Needless to say Day Two's photo is almost immediately following the end of Day One. There's only one way to suitably celebrate such a historic victory by Black and White Fulham. So with several pints of the Black Stuff in The Distillers in Hammersmith, we drank until the early hours dreaming of the road to Europa Glory...
Not a bad way to kick of the year. Words can't really describe what an incredible night at Craven Cottage this was. I'll happily admit I'm a bit of a plastic Fulham supporter, I've been going with my Dad since the 1980s, but grew up in High Wycombe and ultimately ended up following Wycombe Wanderers. But still, I travelled into London with the faint hope that Fulham could turn over the 3-1 reversal from the first half out in Italy.
