Day Forty-four

I definitely needed a lot of this to get me through the day after the night before.

Day Forty-three

The Europa Cup Semi-Final Second Leg, 90 minutes from the final, enjoying a couple of pre match beers to calm the nerves!

Wednesday 28 April 2010

Day Forty-two

I had to work from Milton Keynes today, a city which I now believe is the safest in the world after leaving my wallet on top of my car in a open car park for hours before returning to fine it still there! As much as it pains me (because of a dislike for their football team) MK really is a nice city, but I can't quite get my head round why on earth they felt the need to scatter concrete cows all over the place....

Tuesday 27 April 2010

Day Forty-one

This is St Paul's, my C of E church in Wooburn Green, and also where my sister got married a couple years ago.

Monday 26 April 2010

Day Forty

With just ten days until the General Election I'm out on the campaign trail. This is a new park we work to create whilst I was councillor in Totteridge.

Sunday 25 April 2010

Day Thirty-nine

St George's Day Parade this Sunday, finalising on the village green.

Saturday 24 April 2010

Day Thirty-eight

The penultimate home game of the season for Wycombe today, the stadium was full but the atmosphere was nervous. Surely anything but a win for Wycombe would mean relegation.

The last substitution and one final roll of the dice for Wycombe...

Wycombe 2
Swindon 2

Wycombe live to fight another day, but must win both of the two remaining games of the season to stand any chance of avoiding the drop.

Day Thirty-seven

A rather empty bedroom. I've emptied almost all my belongings from my apartment now. No pictures on the wall or photo frames on the shelf, not even so much as a change of clothes or a chest of draws. Just lamp and a radio left there for the final night and it really does start to feel like the end of an era...

Day Thirty-six

A sunny spring evening and a short walk across the village green to my local to watch the mighty Fulham in the Europa Cup Semi Final....

Day Thirty-five

I'm in the process of moving out of my apartment and its amazing the things you find sometimes. This was a collective 19th birthday present from Julia, Michelle, Emma, Kate and Sarah at uni!

Day Thirty-four

Some days at work its seems like the in tray is bottomless. This is my out-tray, now can someone bloody file it?!

Day Thirty-three

They say good things come to those who wait. But I don't like waiting...so enjoyed a crafty pint of Guinness on a monday night...

Sunday 18 April 2010

Day Thirty-two

Day trip to Oxford today and relaxing in the sun at the castle. My mate Martin really isn't happy though....he's just got conned into buying some hugely overpriced sweets...things got worse, we ate most of them for him too!

Day Thirty-one

There's nothing sweeter than beating your local rivals away on a sunny spring day....with a 95th minute winner!

MK Dons 2
Wycombe 3

Saturday 17 April 2010

Day Thirty

In London today....one of my favourite things to do is spend an evening at the theatre, alas cameras are banned in there, so here is where we warmed up (or cooled down?) in London's Ice Bar. The walls, the bar and even the cocktail glasses are made of ice...

Day Twenty-nine

There's more significance to this photo than just a couple of clouds in an otherwise perfectly blue sky. I live less than 20 miles from Heathrow airport, the busiest in Europe. Its not an exaggeration to say that I never looked up to the sky from my home here and seen a blue sky without a plane or a vapour trail. Thanks for an Icelandic Volcano all flights are suspended and we can enjoy quiet, peaceful and crystal clear blue skies here in High Wycombe for the first time in my life.
Compare this image to the banner with the exact same view from my balcony that I'd already had at the top of this blog....

Wednesday 14 April 2010

Day Twenty-eight

In the furthest corner of Buckinghamshire, The Pineapple is a quaint english pub turned sandwich bar and a favourite stopping place for working lunches for us at LeasePlan.

Day Twenty-seven

Out on the campaign trail...

Conservative Party Parliamentary Candidate, Steve Baker, for High Wycombe shares a beer and some thoughts with Lakshan Wanigasooriya, the Conservative Party Candidate for Totteridge in the upcoming by-election.

Day Twenty-six

A sign of the times? Maybe, but does anyone know where i can find a home for rent?

Sunday 11 April 2010

Day Twenty-five

Next to where my parents live is Slate Meadow, home to lots of wildlife and several horses. There's been one new addition this spring, but this foal is still a little uneasy on its legs...

Day Twenty-four

Inspired by test driving some Fiats at work a couple of days ago and the glorious spring sunshine, I spent the morning cleaning my car inside and out. Here she is all sparkling!

Saturday 10 April 2010

Day Twenty-three

Its 6pm on Friday evening. The best way to get the weekend started?
...almost, a failure on my part to prepare meant these beers were still warm...nothing 20 minutes in the freezer couldn't fix though...

Day Twenty-two

Working in the motor industry certainly has its perks and today was one of them. Fiat brought a whole load of their new models to our office for us to test drive, clear blue skies and sunglasses at the ready we hit the road....

Wednesday 7 April 2010

Day Twenty-one

ARGH! Today it took me twice as long to get home from work as normal. You gotta love the pothole damaged road of High Wycombe. Being stuck in traffic is one of the few things which can send me from calm to stressed in 60 seconds!

Day Twenty

Out for an evening with an old school friend this evening, and was only apt that it therefore took me into Marlow, my old school town and place a very rarely go nowadays. A trip down memory lane took my past my old school, the 400 year old Sir William Borlase's Grammar School.

Monday 5 April 2010

Day Nineteen

No bank holiday weekend is complete without a bit of home improvement. Here's the new garden fence my Dad and I installed, whilst dodging rain showers over the weekend.

Sunday 4 April 2010

Day Eighteen

Easter Sunday today and trip down to Hampshire to see my sister, I stopped enroute at the village of Hindhead to walk to the edge of the aptly named Devil's Punch Bowl (it was created by the devil....apparently). This picture shows the early morning mist still sitting strong.

Day Seventeen

Football again today. Its getting painful watching Wycombe Wanderers now, reality of relegation has firmly set in. Whilst this may be one of the worst Wanderers team's I've seen in my 20 years as a supporter, it would be unjust to knock their effort on saturday. They played like a team that wanted so bad to win, but ultimately just aren't good enough.

This strike is from the pre-match warm up...

Saturday 3 April 2010

Day Sixteen

Its easter weekend and time to eat too much chocolate. These are my housemate's, if doesn't eat them soon though, he'll never be able too!

Friday 2 April 2010

Day Fifteen

There no stadium quite like Craven Cottage. There's something quite special about the age and history of the place. The change from terracing to seats did not destroy this special feeling like it did in so many other stadia. This photo is of the Stevenage Road Stand (Johnny Haynes Stand), some quick research on the internet informs me that this is the oldest football stand in the world, built in 1905, to me its still one of the best and quite right then to be a nationally protected building.

Day Fourteen

It was only matter of time before I came to write some of political news on the blog. Following my resignation as councillor for Totteridge a new Conservative Party candidate to stand to the resulting by-election had to be selected. So here's our man, Lakshan....
